Do alternating hihat 16th grooves become a hand tangle-up for you, where the groove is never clean and feeling good and you struggle to reach down to hit the snare at the right time?
This can be such a frustrating roadblock because there are so many songs utilizing this type of groove (think "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2). Not being able to do it makes your drumming feel incomplete.
I struggled with this too as a beginner, and I was stuck only playing very simple versions of alternating 16th grooves (like just hitting the snare on 2 & 4, no other accents or ghost notes possible).
But then I found a really cool exercise that helped me become much more versatile and creative with this type of groove - which is what you'll learn today.
After today's lesson you'll be playing alternating hihat 16th grooves with much more freedom, much less effort, and you'll be able to tackle more songs that come your way. YOU CAN DO THIS.
