Spray Paint Best Practices:
- Properly prepare your work piece. Clean and degrease before painting. Handle with gloves for best results.
- Make sure your environment is clean of dust and debris.
- Paint works best when it’s 70 F (21 C) or warmer and humidity is low.
- You can warm your paint cans indoors or in a bucket of warm water for better atomization when painting in cold weather.
- Shake your paint thoroughly before use and between applications.
- Always test your spray pattern on paper first.
- Clean the nozzle between coats to prevent build-up, uneven spray, and paint boogers.
- Keep the nozzle 6-10 inches (15-25 cm) from the work piece to prevent runs or texture.
- Start your spray off the edge of your work piece, move across the surface perpendicularly at a constant speed, and off the other edge.
- Each pass should overlap the last by 50%.
- Adjust the amount of paint applied by varying your speed, not spray distance.
- When using PlastiDip, plan for at least 6 base coats for proper peelability. The first coat should be 50% coverage, with successive coats at 100%.
- Practice makes perfect!
