The best option is always the one that works best for you. When it comes to 3D CAD, there are multiple approaches and some just don’t click for some users. So in this video, we showcase Plasticity, a new design software intended for artists with a freer workflow.
Plasticity is new and there will no doubt be plenty of development and new features to come. It’s also worth noting that there are always multiple ways to create the same geometry, so what you see in this video is not exhaustive of everything on offer.

Support material in 3D printing lets us defy gravity, but it does eat up additional filament and add time to the print. While the print quality and slicer experience is very good, other aspects are sadly underdone, as we explore in this review. Hopefully these issues are fixed soon in a future firmware update.

![Experimenting with a new (and probably flawed) 18650 building method: No soldering or spot welding!
Check out my 2nd channel, TT Racing: https://www.youtube.com/@TTRacingYT
Previously I enjoyed building a custom 18650 battery for my portable Monoprice Mini delta 3D printer. And then some of the cells failed, limiting overall voltage and making my charger unhappy. I wanted to build a replacement that is serviceable, as a trial run for a much bigger, more expensive and powerful battery I’ve had planned for way too long. In this video, I present you with my experimental build and how I have tried to solve some problems with this approach.
This is not intended as a guide! This method is currently unproven.
My MPMD no longer uses a heated bed, so this battery will have a very easy life. The future battery however, has 320 cells configured to produce 72V and a lot more current. Please help me refine the concept in readiness for that.

![How to modify an STL or mesh - 3D design for 3D printing pt7
To get the best out of 3D printing, it helps if you can design your own parts. In this tutorial series, we will learn to use a free 3D CAD program to do just that.
In this episode, we look at situations where a model has already been designed that we want to modify, but the author has not made source CAD available, so all we have is an STL. Onshape has improved its functionality and it’s now possible to add and subtract geometry from STLs and other meshes. We also briefly look at working with a 3D scanned mesh.

Check out my 2nd channel, TT Racing: https://www.youtube.com/@ttracingYT
After my first Magneto X video, many viewers had questions and requests regarding the linear motors. In this video, we take a detailed look at how they work, what each electronics component does, and stress test across a range of areas to see if linear motors are a worthwhile advancement for 3D printing, or just a gimmick.
Thanks to all of the people who asked questions in the first video, and to the Peopoly engineers who then answered my questions.
This 3D printer was sent to me free of charge by Peopoly, so I could provide feedback and suggest improvements for production models. There was originally no request to produce any videos about the Magneto X. After the first video, many viewers requested more information on the linear motors, prompting this follow up. ![Can FOSS CAD compete? Trying out Ondsel (improved FreeCAD)
Check out my 2nd channel, TT Racing: https://www.youtube.com/@ttracingYT
I prefer to use free and open source options when I can, but when it comes to CAD I use the free but proprietary Onshape. I’ve previously tried but didn’t enjoy FreeCAD, but now we have Ondsel, an improved version that fixes problems and addresses community requests.
In this video, I compare Ondsel to FreeCAD, Onshape and even Fusion360 (this is the most I’ve ever used it). Trying to separate frustrations from being unfamiliar, I make a list of what works well, what is limited, and what still needs to be improved.
I really despise pointing out flaws in something free and open source, but I’ve tried to do so constructively, providing specific examples where these limitations are a problem. I’m sure some FreeCAd advocates will be upset over my conclusion, but the way it and Ondsel approach 3D modelling is quite different from Onshape/Fusion360/Inventor/Solidworks/SolidEdge/etc. They have converged on an intuitive and logical approach. FreeCAD/Ondsel deviates from this, but is it an improvement or hindrance?
Thanks to my patrons Derek and Novaplusplus for their assistance in making this video.
