Scallydandling about the books | Plans for 2022, group read announcements (Magic Mountain and Don Quixote) and overambitious goals @scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 | Uploaded December 2021 | Updated October 2024, 23 minutes ago.
Don't laugh too hard at my enthusiastic plans and goals for the year ahead. I love planning and am very earnest about continuing to expand my reading horizons. I look forward to your recommendations of good graphic novels and graphic non-fiction and great books by Booktuber authors.
If you see this before the end of 2021 you can still sign up for Booktube Prize judging. Last call for judges here: youtu.be/jtSx8uHuXEk
If you may be interested in a group read of The Magic Mountain published in 1924 by Thomas Mann, here's the planned schedule. Say in the comments if you want to take part or better still message me on Voxer so I can add you to our Magic Mountain group. I an rcook2207.
This novel is considered one of the greatest achievements of German literature and I am told it is a pleasure to read. I'm hosting this with Greg of Another Bibliophile Reads youtube.com/channel/UC3pPdZfkc_fNr99krln_zsA who is much more diligent than me so it will be well-organised!
Week 1: April 8, pages 3 to 103. 100 pages
Week 2: April 15, pages 103 to 222. 119 pages
Week 3: April 22, pages 216 to 316. 100 pages
Week 4: April 29, pages 316 to 417. 101 pages
Week 5: May 6, pages 417 to 531. 114 pages
Week 6: May 13, pages 531 to 626. 95 pages
Week 7: May 20, pages 626 to 706. 80 pages
Don Quixote will be a less formal shared read starting in March and spread over ten to twelve weeks I think depending on the preferences of whoever takes part. Tell me if you are interested. It's long, it's old but people still read it and love it so let's see why.
Tilly and I are happy to be joined for some of our Discussing Drama discussions.
