PATCH NOTES:
The patch consists of two primary voices: Magerit Laniakea and Acid Rain Technology Chainsaw. The patch is based around using Avalon Harmonics Nucleus to trigger random bursts of sound based on background radiation. No software audio processing has been applied and the patch is fully contained within the rack without any external hardware.
Laniakea Voice:
Gate output from AH Nucleus is routed to AH R&F to smooth out the rise and fall. This signal is then routed to AH CVMod8 Ch1 for the sake of offsetting and scaling before being fed to Laniakea's Cluster parameter. This results in burst of horn-like sounds and buzz that you can hear periodically. Each is a actual Geiger click.
STModular 2xLFO square is fed to AH S&S set to noise source with some slew applied. This generates random slewed values which are then routed to AH CVMod8 Ch2 for offset and scale before being fed to Laniakea's Color parameter.
I am honestly not sure how the Laniakea itself has been set up (at least the secondary parameters). I have been playing around with it until I got a sound that I really enjoyed!
Chainsaw-Popple Voice:
Chainsaw generates a continuous supersaw with some detune on it and feeds the stereo signal directly into After Later Audio's Popple stereo filter.
Same square LFO from before is routed to AH CVMod8 Ch6 to offset it to positive values, and is then routed to Takaab Even Clock Divider to slow it down. 1/2 output is routed to another AH S&S to generate another set of random slewed values. Output goes to AH CVMod8 Ch4 for offsetting and scaling, and is then fed to both left and right FM inputs on Popple.
Inverted Gate output from AH Nucleus goes into AH R&F to control the rise and fall time. Output goes into AH CVMod8 Ch3 to offset it, and then to AH MiX. The same Inverted Gate is also sent to an STModular ADSR. Output from the ADSR goes into the CV input of Befaco Hex Mix VCA. Signal input of the VCA is fed from a secondary 2xLFO output set to triangle mode. This results in a triangle value which ramps up and falls back down when there have been no Geiger clicks for some time. This signal is mixed together with the R&F signal in the AH MiX module and is then routed to Popple's Cutoff input.
Mixing:
Chainsaw-Popple voice (LP4 outputs) is routed in stereo to ALM MFX to apply some stereo delay before being sent to Antumbra 6MIX. Laniakea's voice in stereo is also sent to the 6MIX. Finally, output of 6MIX is sent to STModular's UIT to be output as balanced audio and eventually recorded using Ableton Live.Thorinair @ Hex Furry Festival 6Thorinair2023-06-26 | An emotional night. The video features no crowd as I had to re-record it for performance reasons. VRChat seems to perform way worse than it did last time I did this...
Anyway, the show contains custom created light show and visuals created by myself. I decided to learn QLC+ to be able to perform the light show, and I performed it live using my Launch Pad. Visuals I created using various VJ clips, and special VRChat world wireframe technique I came up with. It was glorious seeing people's reactions when they recognized Luminescent Ledge.

Things are slowly moving into place. Some of you might have noticed in my previous modular ambient video that I mentioned a lot of different synthesizer modules that I have designed myself, under the name Avalon Harmonics. We are very close, and I will soon be able to start selling them to the public. The patch in this video gives a little trailer and demo of the modules that will be initially available. NOTE: Video also shows some modules not made by me, mostly from ST Modular and TubeOhm.
To create the sound of the patch in the video, Avalon Harmonics Nucleus module (avalon-harmonics.com/module/Nucleus ) produces triggers each time the Geiger Counter detects a particle. A uranium glass bead was added to its alcove to excite it further. Triggers are combined with a square LFO using an AND gate on the Avalon Harmonics LOGx module (avalon-harmonics.com/module/LOGx ) to sometimes create an additional trigger. These two triggers excite ADSRs which produce the glassy plucks. The deeper pluck is a triangle passed through the Avalon Harmonics WF (wavefolder) module (avalon-harmonics.com/module/WF ) to produce a rougher sound.
The Geiger triggers also trigger the Avalon Harmonics S&S module (avalon-harmonics.com/module/SnS ) set to internal noise source. This produces a randomized value which is then passed to the Penrose quantizer. These generated notes are then used to drive the tone of the same plucks. The pluck sound sources are mixed together using the Avalon Harmonics MiX module (avalon-harmonics.com/module/MiX ).
The drone/pad sound is produced by the Acid Rain Chainsaw, passed through After Later Audio Popple. To control it, Avalon Harmonics CVMod8 (avalon-harmonics.com/module/CVMod8 ) is extensively used. One of the channels controls the cutoff of the folder, while the other controls the detune of Chainsaw. Cutoff is also controlled using the Geiger generated gate signals, to produce a rising effect when there are multiple clicks. The output of this CVMod8 channel is passed to an Avalon Harmonics R&F module (avalon-harmonics.com/module/RnF ) to enforce a slower rise time. CVMod8 also takes a signal and an inverted signal from a triangle LFO to modulate the cutoff of left and right channels alternatively, creating an interesting stereo effect.

PATCH NOTES:
This is by far the most complex patch I have created so far. And best of all, Ableton Live is used ONLY for recording. All sequencing and effects are done on hardware! So, let's dive in...
The main harsh synth sound is created using ST Modular Honeyeater VCO. The notes are generated by offsetting and scaling the square wave from ST Modular 2xLFO into Avalon Harmonics CVMod8. This signal is then fed into TubeOhm Penrose Quantizer to get alternating C and E notes before being fed into Avalon Harmonics R&F to generate portamento on each note change. Finally, the signal goes into Honeyeater's 1V/OCT.
Output of Honeyeater is fed into ST Modular EFI filter. The filter's cutoff is controlled by a random value generated by Avalon Harmonics S&S which samples the internal noise source on each note. Note gates are generated by Arturia KeyStep Pro. The signal is fed into the same R&F from before to generate the sliding sound before going into EFI. EFI's output then goes into Befaco Hexmix VCA which is controlled by ST Modular ADSR for shaping the notes. Output goes into MusicThingModular Mini Drive to create some harsh sounds before returning into Hexmix VCA to create a sidechain effect. Sidechain signal is generated by another ADSR on the inverted output, also from KeyStep Pro, before going into CVMod8. Here, the signal is adjusted a bit to act as a sidechain before being sent to the Hexmix VCA.
Output from Hexmix VCA then goes into the effect chain, which first consists of another S&S. This one is used as a sample rate crush effect. The sample rate is generated by ST Modular Cyllene, where the rate is controlled by the same signal that controls the EFI. The signal then goes into the ST Modular Reverb, giving it some nice shimmer. The output is then routed to two separate ST Modular Delays. This is done to generate a nice stereo image as they have slightly different timing. The output is finally fed to ST Modular MIA mixer and then into the ST Modular UIT balanced output to my computer.
Drums are all sequenced using the Korg Volca Drum and no processing of the signal is done on the rack. All of the magic comes from complex MIDI control using CV. The Volca patch consists of three simple drums: a kick, snare and hihat, each of the three having midi controlling their behavior. Output of the Volca is fed into Befaco InAmp to bring it to modular levels, then to the MIA mixer to mix with the main synth sounds.
MIDI control is comprised of two main parts: hihat release time, and mute sequencing. Avalon Harmonics Nucleus module and Befaco CV Thing are at the heart of this system...
Firstly, Avalon Harmonics Nucleus is a powerful module which generates random triggers and gates each time the internal Geiger Counter detects a click. This signal is compared with the clock signal provided by KSP using Avalon Harmonics LOGx module with AND gates. When both signals are high, this pings an ADSR which goes into CVMod8 for shaping before going to CV Thing. This generates a burst of noise on the hihats on each Geiger click. Additionally an LFO piped through CVMod8 and then to CV Thing controls the tune parameter of Volca's waveguide.
Secondly, the kick and snare muting is generated as a combination of gate signals from KSP and MIDI from CV Thing. There is a gate signal on the KSP which has a low chance of triggering. If it triggers, it toggles the kicks off on the CV Thing and also sets a mod output on the KSP through MIDI to 0V. This signal is sent to ST Modular Toolbox to invert it and then to CVMod8 to adjust its offset. Output goes to LOGx's second AND gate. This primes the LOGx for another trigger from KSP which turns the kicks back on. Output of LOGx, together with the original kick trigger, are mixed on CVMod8 and sent to CV Thing.
The snares are relatively simple in comparison and are just a 50% chance trigger on the KSP which only fires sometimes to toggle the MIDI volume of the snare on or off using CV Thing.

Dedicated to a cute Avali called Talos.
Compared to my previous upload of the ambient patch, I decided to move as much of sequencing as possible to hardware. Bought an Arturia KeyStep Pro, Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3, etc... It has been a dream of mine since building this thing to be able to jam out on it. I think I am on a good track! It is not perfect by any means, but you gotta start somewhere. Now let's see about that patch...
The dark drone is generated by a patch on the Novation Bass Station II. It is controlled by the KeyStep Pro over MIDI, along with modulation. Its output is fed directly into Ableton Live for further processing like delay, reverb, sidechaining and EQing.
The bassline is a patch on my Talos Ohm 1X85 modular rack. Voice is a sawtooth generated by the STModular Honeyeater VCO and fed into a VCF. Afterwards, it is fed into a VCA, then into a reverb and out to Ableton Live for further processing. KeyStep Pro controls the gates, 1V/OCT and modulation of the VCF directly over CV. An LFO also modulates the VCF's cutoff continuously to give it some movement. ADSR controls both the VCA and VCF.
The synth stabs are also a patch on the modular rack. This time, the voice is a sine wave generated by the STModular Cyllene VCO. Its output is fed to STModular ClippingCat which is here simply used as a VCA as I don't have enough VCAs in my rack. an ADSR controls its openness before sending it to Avalon Harmonics WF. This is a module I have designed myself and will soon be releasing it as open source along with a bunch of other modules I have been working on! WF is also fed a fast triangle LFO to give it a more harsh sound. Output is fed through a VCA controlled by another ADSR and finally through a delay before going to Ableton.
All drums are generated using the MicroTonic VST. Pretty simple here, I just tuned all of the drum patches myself and its sequenced by the Novation Launchpad Pro Mk3. Launchpad lets me trigger and combine various patterns to give the drum loops some variety, and better ease of control at my fingertips.
Finally, the pad-lead-like sound is generated by the U-He Diva VST. Nothing too special either, it is also controlled by KeyStep Pro over MIDI. All synth voices go through lots of additional processing in Ableton to help EQ them, sidechain them and give them some stereo separation, especially the mono synths. A few months ago, I got really hooked on modular synthesis. I didn't have anything to start with, but I kept watching videos by the likes of State Azure (youtube.com/user/stateazure) and Ruta (youtube.com/c/RutaSound). I was mesmerized by their generative patches. Naturally, it was difficult to resist the temptation - maybe it would be something that will reignite the love for music production in me. I bought a bunch of DIY kits, most of them by ST Modular, and spent weeks soldering them. I designed my own Eurorack compatible case: "Talos Ohm 1X85" and the rest is history.
This is my first ever modular ambient patch. I wanted to have it emulate the sound that the crystals on Luminescent Ledge VRChat world emit (vrchat.com/home/world/wrld_fb4edc80-6c48-43f2-9bd1-2fa9f1345621 ). I originally made the crystal sounds in the world using software synths as they are way more versatile, so it was a challenge to bring this sound to the modular world - and to have it randomized. The result is not perfect, but it is good enough to the point that I felt I can post it. I call this "Semi-Generative" as I rely on Ableton Live to generate the midi signaling and some level of randomization.
Patch notes:
A lot of design choices for the patch came from the limitation of what I have and what I can do. Various potentially weird workarounds and such while I am still learning and accumulating gear...
Ableton Live controls a total of 3 different MIDI channels: 2 for the Talos Ohm 1X85 and 1 for the Bass Station II. Each channel can play 3 different MIDI clips which are randomly switched out every 4 bars. The clips are arranged in such a way that they are always in key and playing notes which correspond to the same chord. Some MIDI processing in Ableton makes it only trigger the pluck output sometimes.
Bass Station II generates the sine pads. It is run specifically in paraphonic mode, which allows it to play 2 different notes at the same time. One LFO outputs a sample & hold to randomize the volume of the notes, while the other controls the frequency of a low pass filter with some resonance. The output of the BSII is routed through Talos Ohm 1X85 without any processing just for convenience.
Talos Ohm 1X85 takes two MIDI channel inputs: one for regular plucks and one for bassy plucks. Sound source of regular plucks is the Cyllene VCO 's triangle output, while bassy plucks are from the Honeyeater VCO. Regular plucks are only occasionally triggered by the MIDI. Because of a limitation in the MIDI module, I used a "buffer" ADSR to delay the actual pluck slightly, otherwise it sounded detuned due to the slight portamento. The output of this ADSR triggers another ADSR for the actual sound. To ensure that the bassy plucks are always triggered with the regular ones, the output of the ADSR is mixed together with an LFO which is only sometimes in the state which makes the ADSR "loud" enough to trigger another ADSR which in turn lets the bassy pluck though. Both the regular and bassy ADSRs control 2 VCAs for the actual sound. The plucks are mixed together and routed through a classic analog lowpass filter with a bit of resonance to give them some shimmer. Output of the filter is fed into a repurposed clipping distortion module (Clipping Cat module) which is used as a VCA, modulated using an LFO, to make the pluck volume randomized. The final output goes through a delay and reverb effect.
Two outputs (plucks + BSII) are routed back to my computer's audio interface and additional audio processing is done in Ableton Live. BSII input has reverb added to it and some EQing, while Talos Ohm input has a Haas effect on it to give it stereo width, along with some EQing. Both tracks are mixed together in DAW for easier post editing if necessary.Thorinair @ Hex Furry Festival 4Thorinair2021-12-14 | This night has been magical. This has been probably the most magical experience I ever tried to create. Fully custom programmed light show and visuals for multiple screens, custom programming for my LumaDriver, and powerful emotional music to bring it all together. Hearing people's gleeful reactions and also seeing some people crying makes me think that I hopefully succeeded. A big thank you to everyone. The system is fully autonomous and controls the lights purely based on audio and is internally driven by AudioLink. The test was a great success. Simply input this video into the Club Orion world in VRChat and make sure to disable legacy DMX mode to see the light show spring to life in sync to the music.
Apologies for going nuts in the video. It was a fun DJing session and it was satisfying to see it all function. :D

You know how when you have a beautiful dream and you wake up, you are infinitely sad because you know it never happened? Well, that night, I had a beautiful dream, but instead of waking up, I took my VR headset off and I knew that it all did happen.
This was one of the most magical nights in my life. Seeing all of my friends join in such large numbers and almost crash my game multiple times from sheer amount of effects and crazy avatars. You all were amazing and I love you all.
There were a few extreme framerate drops during the video, which I tried to mitigate by simply fading between frames. Otherwise, I am quite happy with how the video turned out. I hope you all can enjoy the memories or have fun as well, even if you somehow missed the event. Make it loud, make it 1440p and become one with the show.

This was one of the most magical nights in my life. Seeing all of my friends join in such large numbers and almost crash my game multiple times from sheer amount of effects and crazy avatars. You all were amazing and I love you all.
There were a few extreme framerate drops during the video, which I tried to mitigate by simply fading between frames. Otherwise, I am quite happy with how the video turned out. I hope you all can enjoy the memories or have fun as well, even if you somehow missed the event. Make it loud, make it 1440p and become one with the show.

I premiered it on Glory of The Night 50, for those who were tuned in. You all know what an experience that was. This is a dream that I want to keep living.
The artwork was done by Noctilucent-Arts, and fantastically animated by Makenshi. I feel as if the animation itself is a birthday gift for me in a way. I never thought my videos would have animation as beautiful as this in them.

I finally finished my first ever VR project for the HTC Vive. I've made this project for my faculty, with the aim to both promote VR among students and professors, but also to have fun programming and designing!

This is a build that I have constructed with my friend Rogy over a year ago on the Minecraft modpack FTB Ultimate. Everything here was built painstakingly on survival through months of hard work, but I have never had time to actually dedicate a video to it.

Reflection is about Rarity's train of thought after hurting her friends. While standing in the rainy, cold Manehattan at night, she is reflecting on the past events and thinking of ways to make the situation better.
This track was made... spontaneously. I was making a score for a 3D Blender animation project for college which wasn't supposed to be related to ponies, but half way through making it, I forgot what I was working on and went forth to put all my emotions in to it. As I was doing so, I slowly started remembering the episode Rarity Takes Manehattan. So, instead of scrapping it, I decided to keep this theme instead.
The 3D animation, which is not related to ponies, will be released sometime next week. I decided to keep this track in it anyway, as you will see.
Hypersonic (Revisited) is a release in which I return to the beginning of my pony music career to revisit one of my oldest tracks: Hypersonic. The release features Resurrected, Orchestral and Original Mixes, and Instrumental versions of Resurrected and Original Mixes.
In Orchestral Mix, I choose to completely get rid of any trance elements, and I re-orchestrate Hypersonic using only strings, woodwind, brass, piano and cinematic drums (oh and choir). This mix increases in intensity until it reaches a climax and then soothes you with a very calming outro.
Hypersonic (Revisited) is a release in which I return to the beginning of my pony music career to revisit one of my oldest tracks: Hypersonic. The release features Resurrected, Orchestral and Original Mixes, and Instrumental versions of Resurrected and Original Mixes.
In Resurrected Mix, I recreate Hypersonic with my newly acquired knowledge and techniques, bringing you a complete overhaul of the whole song: new instrumentation, different transitions, more intensity, different BPM, yet staying true to the original composition and ideas.

How was life in the Crystal Empire during King Sombra's reign? Dark, cold, sad... Everypony lived in fear of the dark ruler, living as slaves.
"Blackened Empire" was inspired by these thoughts. It recreates the life of ponies living under Sombra's rule, and also shows it from his own perspective.
The track is heavily contrasted with sad orchestral breaks and dark, aggressive bass sections.
There are both the Original Mix and the Club Mix available for your listening pleasure. Original Mix has a moody orchestral intro, while the Club Mix is more suited towards DJs, having a clubby intro.
I haven't released anything new in months, was trying to perfect this one the whole time. I started working on it back when Season 3 aired with some breaks in production, trying to find what works best. I hope it was worth it in the end, sorry for the huge delay.
I've been trying to purchase a pair of studio monitors I'm after, however it's going slowly as my only source of income at the moment are donations... I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far!

Blame my exams for the 4-month break, and also for no inspiration.
This is the second track of my two-track EP "The Darkening / The Redemption", both tracks telling the story of a second Changeling attack on Canterlot and the desparate attempts of refugee ponies to save it.
The production took so long mainly because of exams, I was bombarded by them the other month, and they completely drained me from inspiration.
The track is sad and mellow at first, but it quickly turns in to uplifting after the orchestral break, signifying happiness and joy as the ponies help the Changelings realize what they were doing.

It has been a while, hasn't it...? So much university work to do and no time...
This is the first track of my two-track EP "The Darkening / The Redemption", both tracks telling the story of a second Changeling attack on Canterlot and the desparate attempts of refugee ponies to save it.
I am sorry that this one took over a month of production time, but I really wanted to make it as good as possible and polish it.
The track is dark, sad and progressive, yet with the hints of uplifting... Maybe a hope? We shall see...

The two-track EP will be called "The Darkening / The Redemption". Both tracks will be Chrysalis related. The dark and progressive one will show the evil in her, while the uplifting and melodic one will try and show that there is still hope for her. The track I showed in the studio is The Darkening, while the track in outro will most likely be The Redemption.

Hey again guys! I decided to join the guys who work on an MLP RPG game called "Elegy of Disharmony" and make soundtrack for their game! This is the first track for the game, and there will be many more, so stay tuned!
This one is Everfree Forest themed (it will be background music for the zone). It is meant to be dark, scary and ambiental. Yep, this is not trance, but more something like a blend of orchestral and ambiental.
Funfact: The very distorted and stuttered sound you can hear at places like 1:03 is actually Rainbow Dash's voice.

Here, I present to you, my remix of Makkon's Deae Lunae. Imagine how it would feel to be a princess of the Moon, yet being imprisoned in the same Moon for a thousand years... That is the story of Nightmare Moon... I don't know if this is the inspiration Makkon originally had, but it is how I saw the track... :) Makkon's original is simply fantastic. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it the first time. After I "recovered", I thought, how would it sound like trance?

The map features a long walk through the park on an island which ends with a Myst linking book which takes you to the Sound Room. This map is also a tribute to the amazing Myst games. If you never played them before, you should check them out!

Okay, for this original track, I decided to go towards a bit more harder side of trance. We all know how Applejack is strong and all, yet loyal and can fill your heart with warmth. My idea was to try and describe this using contrasts in my track between beautiful and full-out dark. The track is mostly inspired by the episode "Applebuck Season". Whole intro of the track describes Applejack getting ready for the Applebuck Season. She is determined to succeed. The moment when the drop happens is the moment where she begins her hard work. I tried to simulate her raw energy and willpower in the drop.
Been a long pause between my last track and this, but here it is...
The track is, just like the original, inspired by ponies. It is inspired by how I feel about the picture and about the beauty of the original track. We all know Octavia is an earth pony. We can see her trying to be either a pegasus or unicorn (maybe alicorn?). She cannot be that, so she tries her best, at music. The track contains a whole central section that is classical music to symbolize this (as Octavia plays a cello). The picture and the original track simply inspired me to do my best, so here it is, most likely my best work until now!

Hey again! I went and remixed the wonderful track "For The New Lunar Republic" by Not a Clever Pony! I decided to go a bit more towards the style of my previous tracks like "Spark of Magic" or "Hypersonic", but also with some darker arps...
