Weekly Catch-up:
Brad and Ray are back after another 1 week break and they kick off the show talking about a big change in Ray’s sharing on Instagram. Ray has been sharing a new photo on social media every day for over 10 years and he recently decided to stop that. The guys discuss what the reasons are for Ray and chat a bit about the changing ways social media is useful for wildlife photographers.
Brad discusses his recent trip to Terrenceville, which is typically his annual trip to photograph caribou. After a few attempts he was unsuccessful in really locating any of the big stags. So noticing that there had been a bunch of gannets coming into the bay and seemingly feeding on some type of fish and doing a lot of diving; He proceeded then to pivot from going for caribou to then photographing the Gannets. He realized it was a unique opportunity to get them at this location which was different than when he photographs them during their workshops that they run. On one particular morning he ended up getting a rainbow opportunity and rushing down to the shoreline for about 10 minutes, he was able to photograph Gannet's diving, feeding and gliding in front of the rainbow, which worked out to be an incredible encounter and proved to him that the pivot from going for Caribou to Gannets was the right move.
Ray ends the show sharing a few examples of his where he pivoted his original target subject and ended up with some great results. The guys also tease an idea for an upcoming show where all the viewers can get involved so make sure to listen at the end!
