While this latest Firebird has lots in common with the outgoing version, from its travel numbers to its basic silhouette, it’s got a lot of “new” going on as well, including slacker geometry, a slick chainstay length adjustment, internal frame storage, and a progressivity-adjusting flip chip.
None of that changes the fact that the Firebird is still Pivot’s longest-travel pedalable bike, designed for gnarly terrain and racing enduros. So what do those changes add up to, and how does the Firebird stack up to the current crop of long-travel enduro bikes?
Based on a size large:
Travel: 165 mm (rear) 170 mm (front)
Wheel Size: 29” or Mixed 29”/27.5”
Size Tested: Large
Build Tested: Pro XO Transmission
Head Tube Angle: 63.8° (low setting, 29" rear wheel)
Measured Weight: 35.61 lbs (16.15 kg)
MSRP: $9,899

Last spring Professional Skier and Giant Bicycles Ambassador Sage Cattabriga-Alosa along with Adam Craig, world renowned XC racer and “playing it live” professional did some scouting on a trail they heard had lots of winter fall down on. After moving some logs, cutting a few limbs, and small timber they reaped the rewards of a hard days work with some good ole shredding down the freshly cleared trail.
Everyone interprets a trail differently, and while there’s no wrong way, there are certainly some more impressive ways. ![Joey Schusler and the Road Less Traveled // The Art of Adventure [Full Version]
With roots in Boulder, CO, the mountains have been a formative force in Joey Schusler’s life. However, after nearly a decade of racing—climbing the ranks from local races to the UCI World Cup—his focus began to shift toward filmmaking, seeing how far his bike could take him, not just how fast he could go. In the years since, he’s traveled the world with his camera, bike and best friends, exploring rugged and remote areas, telling the stories of places and their people. For Joey, adventuring is not only a lifestyle, but an art form.

![Glenn King & Jacob Mullen Ride Prince George, BC // [POV] Perspectives on Velocity
Situated at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers, Prince George is a welcoming bike community that blends small city sophistication with access to well-built trails and intuitive flow. Here, riders will find crowd-free examples of British Columbia’s legendary riding terrain, complete with skinnies and a northern challenge that tips the difficulty scale slightly higher. Four riding zones surround the city, including the prominent Pidherny Recreation Site. Ride along with local legend Glenn King as he chases the heels of Jacob Mullen on their favorite sequence of Pidherny trails, making smooth work of Prince George’s intimidating yet achievable and skillful woodwork. Glenn and Jacob finish with an obligatory freeride descent down the famed (and legal) cut banks of the Nechako River.
