In case anyone is interested in how I configure the Pitts S-2B (AEIO-540 engine) for economy cruise. The plane has a 24 gallon (23 usable) main tank and 5 gallon ferry tank in the top wing. I like to cruise at 8500' or 9500' at 2000 RPM, and wide open throttle which yields around 22" MP - YES I fly oversquare! This allows the mixture to be leaned to around 11 gph which allows flight planning 250 nm legs maximum.
