Transcript: This is a story about a girl named Pippi Longstocking, a redheaded little girl who lives by herself with a monkey named Mr. Nilsson and a horse. Pippi is extremely strong and can lift the horse with one arm. Her mother died and her father was a sea captain supposedly lost at sea. He bought the home, called Villa Villekulla, for him and Pippi to live in, so Pippi lives there and awaits his return.
Pippi’s neighbors have two children named Tommy and Annika, who enjoy coming over to Pippi’s house and watching her. Pippi makes them breakfast and plays with them. She even roughs up a gang of boys who are ganging up on one boy.
However, word gets around town that Pippi is living alone and so the police arrive at the house to tell her that she must go to a children’s home and attend school. Pippi doesn’t understand why and so she plays a game with the police, ultimately lifting them and throwing them out.
Pippi decides to attend school and so she goes with Tommy and Annika. However, when the teacher asks her questions, Pippi doesn’t answer the questions and why the teacher is asking her things. Pippi decides that she isn’t interested in school and the teacher says that she might try school in a couple of years.
After Pippi attends the circus and shows off her incredible strength by defeating a strongman in wrestling, she is invited to a coffee party, which doesn’t turn out well.
Then one day, she is traveling through town and sees a burning building. She climbs a tree and rescues some children who were trapped. She’s a hero.
In the end, Pippi celebrates her birthday with Tommy and Annika and discovers her father’s sea chest. She vows to be a pirate some day.
