I had originally stated that this player used the Epsilon Turn mechanism. This is in error. The player uses a modified form of the Gamma Turn mechanism.

This video shows the action of the Gamma Turn Mechanism, which permits rapid automatic reverse when end-of-side has been reached on a LaserDisc.

The Epsilon Turn Mechanism in an DVD/LD/CD combination unit also enables the player to switch between DVD and LD/CD dedicated laser optical pickups.
