❗️Question for those who know❗️Is this normal for a Gripen display? I have seen many Gripen displays at Farnborough and Fairford dating back to the original appearance at Farnborough and have never seen this before.
It was a spectacular flying display from Swedish and Hungarian Air Force at Royal international Air Tatto 2022.
0:00 Swedish Air Force SAAB JAS 39C Gripen F7 Wing
01:11 Slow flying speed
02:25 Mid air fuel dump
02:39 Hungarian Air Force SAAB Gripen
02:54 Fuel "dump and burn "
03:33 High angle of attack and low altitude. This kind of manoeuvre works very well when chasing very slow moving objects like boats and several prop driven aircrafts. For example Cessna’s average speed is around 104 knots. Theoretically, with the proper training and procedures, an expert pilot can fly an SAAB Gripen at a comparable speed.
The Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a light single-engine multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by the Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab AB. The Gripen has a delta wing and canard configuration with relaxed stability design and fly-by-wire flight controls.
Length: 14 m
Unit cost: 40,000,000–60,000,000 USD
First flight: 9 December 1988
Status: In service
Introduction: 9 June 1996
