I woke up this morning to see a pair of pileated woodpeckers right across the pond (I've never seen 2 at one time before). By the time I grabbed a camera, one was off in the woods, but I managed to get some video of the one that remained. I did a fake slow motion sequence of the flight at the end.

$Pond Time Lapse A lot of pollen was deposited on the surface of the pond this week, and I found the patterns fascinating. First thing in the morning, some of the pollen is blueish and some is reddish, as the light diffracts off of the pollen. I decided to take this time lapse because I was curious about how the surface of the pond reacted to the wind. I had no idea how rapidly it would shift, and that there was a general counter-clockwise drift. Time lapse is often very revealing. 601 photos were taken at 30 second intervals to create this video at 25 frames per second.$
