I thought this behind-the-scenes look at the episode's finale looked pretty cool :)

Includes SPOILERS from Pikmin in Super Mario World (S2, E2)!

This is how the scene (and other complicated scenes) are animated in my videos, the original video is the size of the stage, then later it is cropped to the actual video size, with the camera movement added to follow the player, etc. The background which moves at a slower speed is also added later.

As you can imagine, when the sprites aren't seen nothing fancy is done to them, they tend to continue looping until completing their cycle or being cut before the camera returns there.

Mind-blowing noteworthy stuff:

The pipe layout to the left randomly changes when Larry explodes, this is because 2 images of the stage were used, with the only difference being that Larry's pipe is, or isn't damaged. At first you see the original layout which didn't work when I animated the koopalings on it. Because you only saw this area after Larry explodes, I only changed the layout in the 'broken pipe' version. Fun Fact... the pipe only breaks because I realized it was too high for Imajin to jump back up to, and I'd already done loads of work with the pipe at that height! XD

The onion sometimes disappears/reappears, this is where it's animation cycle is reset while offscreen, when it gets to the end of its animation cycle its body's color becomes transparent (where the texture has reached its end) which can be seen here.

The pipes Morton and Roy walk upside on disappear towards the end, this is so when the camera moves up they don't obstruct that lovely sunset shot. The pipes would've only been slightly onscreen anyway, making the continuity error hard to notice.

Please note that because the background doesn't move, it's not always in sync with the original.
