We're thrilled to announce our new book ‘Pigment Stories’, made up of sixty richly-illustrated pigment entries that bring the history of artists’ colour to life.

The idea for the book emerged from comments we received from people enjoying the ‘Pigment Stories’ film series. It’s both a celebration and a continuation, and it expands on many of the narratives we began telling on screen. We began to imagine how these stories might live in a physical format. This drew on research and articles about pigments by Evie Hatch, Studio and Materials specialist at Jackson’s and host of the film series. Along the way, new entries were added – whose stories were too good to leave untold.

Human beings have used colour to tell stories for millennia, but the colours themselves have stories to tell. From earthy ochres used in prehistoric caves to the cutting-edge chemistry of modern colours, these stories trace how pigments have shaped art, science, and culture.

A book for artists and art enthusiasts alike, pre-order ‘Pigment Stories’ now on our website: jacksonsart.com/pigment-stories-book-by-jackson-s-art?utm_campaign=pigment_stories_preorder&utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=organicsocial&utm_content=youtube_social_organic_shorts_to_ecom
