After recent flooding in Montreal’s West Island, a new pump was installed between Fleming and Léger streets in the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. But residents say the battery failed to start, prompting some to try boosting it themselves.

The pump is not new. It is installed seasonally to help mitigate floodwater risks.
