No, this is not SRM.
It's possible to pick up an actor when they set Link's Get Item if they're Link's targetActor (0x0674 into his instance in 1.0-1.2). During WWT, the actor you WWT with is Link's targetActor, so all you have to do is get WWT with an actor that attempts to give you something and pick up an item (a bomb in this case) as it does so.
Somewhat notably, if the actor attempts to give Link an item that doesn't make an overhead animation, you can continue to walk and carry them around, this is not shown in the video though.
