Cyanobacteria and algae/plants both perform oxygenic photosynthesis, and they have different cell structures. In this video, I describe where the photosynthesis occurs in photosynthetic bacteria versus photosynthetic eukaryota. Ancient eukaryota adopted ancient cyanobacteria and incorporated them into their cells to obtain the process of photosynthesis.
