Fixing the PhonoTrix that was given to me by Brian, The8TrackChap.
A correction to my mistake: I thought this unit had manual level control, but it turns out that the volume control is *only* for playback volume, and the recording level is one preset level, with no automatic control.
To get this unit functioning, it really just needed some lubrication, and also adjustment (by bending metal slightly) of a flange that gets pushed around to move the felt pad to and from the head and the pinch roller to and from the capstan.
The "British" recordings will be uploaded in full in the future.
This machine uses only three transistors, with single-transistor audio out with a transformer, not push-pull. The biasing is DC, and erasing is done via permanent magnet.
I also plan to sometime in the not-yet-determined future to give the faceplate a new paint job, to take care of that ugly rust.
