Originally releasing in 2006, Final Fantasy XII is the first mainline game in the series to take place in the world of Ivalice, placing our six playable characters in the centre of a conflict between two dominating empires. The game was known for being a departure from the more focused storytelling of earlier entries, innovating the long running franchise with features like the gambit & jobs systems, also giving us a large open world with a controllable camera.

The game begins in independent Dalmasca as it prepares to war with Archadia, a powerful empire to the north who close in on the small kingdom to compete with the Rozzarian empire. After an introductory playing out of events, we start our journey as Vaan, who is controlled by us for the majority of the game, seeking to become a pirate of the skies & avenge his brother, killed two years before supposedly by Basche, another one of our main characters who was falsely suspected to have killed the king of Dalmasca.

Rounding out our cast of characters firstly is Penelo, Vaan's friend who joins us right at the start, eventually becoming a permanent member of the party after being let go from the empire. Eventually we also meet Balthier & Fran, sky pirates who meet Vaan after he breaks into the palace in search of the Dusk Shard, a powerful magical stone that proves the lineage of our final party member, Ashe, the princess of Dalmasca who reappears during the story to lead a resistance against Archadia, after being presumed dead for the two years in between the intro and Rabanaste starting point.

Here in my first time completing The Zodiac Age I'll be showing you guys a huge chunk of the content this game offers. We'll be completing all of the main story, having to develop our party over the course of the game with the various upgrades and loot we come across. Along with this is a huge swath of side content, featuring cool boss hunts and side quests scattered throughout all of Ivalice. A massive thanks for watching! ✨
