The Independent | Phillip Schofield talks about 'anguish' of coming out in Cast Away first look @theindependent | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Phillip Schofield has opened up on the “anguish” he experienced coming out as gay later in life during a first look clip at his new TV appearance on Cast Away.

The former This Morning host, who was left on a desert island with just a camera, spoke of how “liberating” and “freeing” the experience is for many - however, the circumstances of his own were different.

Schofield was axed from his daytime TV gigs after an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger colleague became public.

He addresses it in the show, adding: “I know what I did was unwise, but is it enough to absolutely destroy someone?”
