Philadelphia Communications Connections takes a 100 year journey past the technical and entertainment milestones and highlights of Philadelphia history from in 1922 till now. The first pioneer broadcasters, notable performers and corporate players are spotlighted often in a humorous but informative manner. Beginning in March 1922 with the first station and it's fledgling counterparts, we look at technical innovations, communications companies and personalities that gives Philadelphia a prominent role in the history of communications technology, breakthrough innovation, performance firsts and memorable personalities.
Antique Wireless Association Vice President Mike Migliaccio N3HLM, worked for an RCA distributor during college. Upon graduation he was accepted to the Defense Logistics Agency and assigned as an industrial specialist to the Defense Contract Administrative Service. There he was liaison for projects at RCA Government Systems in Camden, NJ, and later for the production of radio equipment for the NASA space shuttle program. He returned to the DLA where he supervised interns, developed training programs and began teaching full time. Mike became safety and occupational health manager for U.S. Naval publications and print facilities in the Northeast and later for all such systems on U.S. Naval bases worldwide. After retirement, Mike devoted time to caring for an elderly parent, for which he studied in the B.S. nursing program at Drexel University. Mike holds a B.S. degree in electronics from Spring Garden College and a M.S. in public safety from St. Joseph’s University. Mike has been an AWA member for 26 years. He earned his first amateur radio license in 1968.
