Phil Jones Projector Reviews youtube.com/@projectorreviews analyzed the latest projection technologies and applications at InfoComm 2026. While direct-view LED walls are widely deployed throughout the exhibition, high-brightness projection systems remain critical for specialized visual environments. These applications include high-performance projection mapping, curved displays, and interactive spherical displays where flat panels are not technically viable.

HDMI® Technology is the foundation for the worldwide ecosystem of HDMI-connected devices; integrated with displays, set-top boxes, laptops, audio video receivers and other product types. Because of this global usage, manufacturers, resellers, integrators and consumers must be assured that their HDMI® products work seamlessly together and deliver the best possible performance by sourcing products from licensed HDMI Adopters or authorized resellers. For HDMI Cables, consumers can look for the official HDMI® Cable Certification Labels on packaging. Innovation continues with the latest HDMI 2.2 Specification that supports higher 96Gbps bandwidth and next-gen HDMI Fixed Rate Link technology to provide optimal audio and video for a wide range of device applications. Higher resolutions and refresh rates are supported, including up to 12K@120 and 16K@60. Additionally, more high-quality options are supported, including uncompressed full chroma formats such as 8K@60/4:4:4 and 4K@240/4:4:4 at 10-bit and 12-bit color.

Christie showcased projection mapping demonstrations using its Christie Griffin projector platforms. The setup featured a single active Griffin unit to perform the mapping, with a second stacked Griffin unit mounted above to act as a redundant backup. This demonstrates the viability of high-lumen projectors for complex geometry mapping where system reliability and physical alignment are critical.

Barco demonstrated rear-projection capabilities in partnership with Pufferfish, which developed the interactive spherical display technology used at the booth. The system utilizes a Barco projector featuring a three-chip DLP engine and an RGB laser light source. The three-chip architecture prevents rainbow artifacts, while the RGB laser source provides the wide color gamut necessary to maintain high contrast and image quality under trade-show ambient lighting.

Epson exhibited its compact 30,000-lumen 3LCD projector, which delivers 4K resolution on screen. The display demonstrated a ceiling-mounted dual-stacked configuration operating without lighting control. Advancements in optomechanical design have significantly reduced the physical chassis size and power consumption of these 30,000-lumen units relative to previous generations.

These professional-grade projection systems are deployed across high-end commercial, cinema, residential, and museum environments. A prominent example is the Dataland interactive art museum in Los Angeles, which integrates 88 Epson 20,000-lumen projectors mapped across ceilings and floors. Lens selection, including optimized short-throw and long-throw optics, remains key to achieving high color accuracy and geometric precision in these spaces.
