Beautiful, hypnotic, sad and eerie. This album is a masterpiece of its kind I think. I love everything i've heard by Phil Cooper and on this record Margaret Nelson is a perfect partner for his brilliant interpretations of old folk music. According to the liner notes this song comes from the 'Belden's Songs and Ballads of Missouri. It is also known as "Drowsy Sleeper" and is in the Silver Dagger family of songs'.
