Phil Broadhurst drew inspiration from Herbie Hancock's 'Speak Like A Child' in this composition, 'First Shot'. The title refers to the composer's first shot at using Sibelius software for musical composition.
This arrangement, recorded at the Auckland Jazz Orchestra’s concert for Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Arts Festival, was prepared by the band’s leader, Tim Atkinson, and features solo work by Ben McNicoll (tenor sax).
