Chris Masterjohn, PhD is the Founder and Scientific Director of the mitochondrial test mito.me. Chris Masterjohn, PhD, founder of mito.me, speaks at the MAHA Institute's Weaponization of Science Roundtable in Washington, DC on October 21, 2025.
Chris opens with the Ioannidis paper, "Evidence-Based Medicine Has Been Hijacked" and then uses as a prime example an illustration that Ioannidis himself might well reject: how the test-negative design of vaccine trials, from COVID to polio, creates a system of smoke and mirrors by asking all of the wrong questions and formulating headlines that make you think they asked the questions you care about when in fact they were just pulling a fast one on you.
He then compares this to cholesterol-lowering statin drugs and SSRIs, other areas where researchers ask the wrong questions because of the way they benefit Big Pharma, though in ways that are nowhere near as egregious as the test-negative design. This has implications for disease substitution, all-cause mortality, and the proper view of SSRI withdrawal and its associated mitochondrial dysfunction.
Do You Have Hidden Mitochondrial Dysfunction?
Mitochondrial dysfunction is one of the earliest signs of aging and chronic disease—and most people don’t know they have it. Mitome is the first at-home test that measures your cellular energy directly and gives you a personalized roadmap to optimize energy, slow aging, and protect against disease.
