Step back into the mid-90s — a time when CD-ROM drives became standard, full-motion video (FMV) was the height of innovation, and Sierra dared to push adventure gaming into darker territory.
Phantasmagoria, created by Roberta Williams, the legendary designer behind the family-friendly King’s Quest series, surprised players with some rough scenes. Using real actors filmed against pre-rendered 3D backgrounds, it delivered a horror experience unlike anything before. By today's standards it is often unintentionally comical. But there are some scenes that are still quite intense. I took the liberty of shortening some of them to make them more suitable for YouTube viewers.
