πŸ‘‰ DO NOT throw out a product that works well on your skin based on a post!!! Whether it’s a clean beauty app or a pH strip test 😩 Please! This really hurts my soul. There is no better test than actually trying a product on your skin! At the very least, put the product aside for later 😭

πŸ‘‰ You CANNOT say whether a product works or is good for your skin or not based solely on pH. Innovations happen all the time - see e.g. high pH water-based ascorbic acid products I talked about recently (PMID 30881584, 20626233)

πŸ‘‰ pH can be helpful as a guide for what to expect from very simple formulas, or maybe if the pH is very extreme, but it needs to be interpreted with a LOT of caution

πŸ™‹πŸ» I'm Michelle, a chemistry PhD, cosmetic chemist and science educator, here to explain how beauty products work, debunk myths, and help you make smarter decisions about your skincare, hair and makeup!
