How To Do Remote Drum Recordings (the right way) Tim Buell 2020-04-04 | Remote drum sessions are something I've been doing for several years now, and it took me a WHILE to learn the ropes are really dial in every step of the "recording drums at home" process. I had to learn how to dial in my drum sounds, program samples, use Pro Tools, set up my Pro Tools session, and a TON of other things that no one ever taught me in "drum school". The recording process for doing drum overdubs or "remote recording sessions" looks like this: 1. Set up your session in Pro Tools (or whatever DAW you use)2. Program any electronic drum parts or extra percussion you might need. 3. Record you acoustic drums.4. Edit your drums (beat detective, grid your drums, layer in kick and snare samples)5.
