Nygard developed from a small Winnipeg-based clothing manufacturer into an international fashion tycoon with properties around the world and a personal net worth of close to a billion dollars.
He had hundreds of allegations against him going back to the 1960s, and he was finally sentenced to prison in Ontario in 2024 for some of his assaults. This is very much an an ongoing story, Peter Nygard still faces further charges in Canada and the US and there may be further details of this case revealed in the future.
