JOHN says, "This song wraps up a little dreamlike mini-trilogy about perplexed men in the cultural business. 'Idiosyncrasy' was about a poet in love with himself, 'Drama King' about a lost actor, and 'A Week-end' is about a blunted, hard-hearted photographer. Instead of living, he is constantly collecting souvenirs from reality. Every line in this song is like dizzy, mental snapshots from a Sunday morning at the Sunset Marquis hotel in LA. (The video is something completely different though.) Apart from the vocals and the tambourine, this is a proper live-take, recorded during our first rehearsal of this song! (continued to record lots of other versions, but this first, spontaneous one had the right 'PBJ-slacker-vibe.')"
HENRY, the director about the video; “After making nine videos for the Endless Dream album, I was suddenly out of ideas when it came to the song ‘A Week-end.’ I turned to my 13-year old son Buster for help. He didn’t want to make a video but made a game which then was turned into a video of sorts - Johns stripped-down apparition from the end of the ‘Drama King’ video spends a lost week-end in front of the computer.”
BUSTER describes the idea of the game; "'A Week-end' is a little game about hitchhiking. My very idea is to imagine if Peter Bjorn and John went on this year's tour but then… John falls off their tour bus, or as in the game, a red pickup truck, and how he'd have to hitchhike his way to the upcoming concert, and that's about it."

LYRICS:
A broken glass in a swimming pool
A fall in a dying afternoon
A breath on one last cigarette
You leave me scrolling on your telephone
Fading footsteps down the stairs
Trembling branches in the air
A whisper in a megaphone
We’re only good for a weekend
Through a gap in a broken wall
Half asleep in a new-built mall
Like Charles Darwin in a Disney world
I spot you scrolling on your telephone
You lick your gums, you itch your cheek
I’m moving back to the exit
The sun beats down on the city street
We’re only good for a weekend
Only good
Only good for a weekend
Only good, only good
We're only good for a weekend
A broken glass in a swimming pool
A fall in a dying afternoon
A breath on one last cigarette
