A disgraced scientist, Dr. Nordhoff, is sentenced to a lifetime of isolation on a desolate prison planet for his controversial experiments. However, his "exile" takes an unexpected turn when he discovers he isn't as alone as he thought. As he encounters other inhabitants and uncovers the true nature of his surroundings, he realizes that the boundaries between reality and punishment are far more blurred than he ever imagined.
