How do you separate personal vs work brainstorming in your notebooks?

I always have trouble separating the two in my head. Since I love separating my pages into 2 columns when journaling or brainstorming, I decided to try using the left column for work and right column for personal.

This way I am able to continue writing without disruption since I always lose the train of thought while trying to separate the two on different pages. It’s so easy to just line up the thought either on the left or right as things pop up in my head. It maintains some kind of separation so I can easily read through them once I finish writing.

I have been so overwhelmed with work and personal life, so I sat down to regroup and write down everything that was in my mind so I can sort through them and come up with a plan of attack.

I love the practice of these brain dump sessions, it’s like pouring out an entire junk drawer and then sorting them quickly into separate categories. It’s so much easier than to try sorting things out in my head.

Right now, the main things that are filling up my head are planning for my older son’s kindergarten homeschool year starting in September, future collections for Sterling Ink, and our little one’s 1st bday celebration. Our little baby will be turning one this fall, and in our culture this is a very special event so I have to plan for the traditional food, decorations and outfit for that. I made all the rice cakes for Stirling’s 1st birthday because it was right when Covid started, so I would feel really guilty if I didn’t do the same for our baby Leighton.
