In this webinar, Dr. Atlas explains the essential nature of weather forecasting and the main approaches that have been used. Dr. Atlas shares his personal experience as an apprentice forecaster with the U.S. Weather Bureau in the early 1960's and as an operational forecaster in the U.S. Air Force in the 1970's. Join us as Dr. Atlas highlights from some of the research that he has been involved in over the last 50 years, such as the initial impact of quantitative satellite data on numerical weather prediction, extreme weather events, and Observing System Simulation Experiments.
