In 2 Timothy 3 Paul tells Timothy what kind of people he must avoid and how he must live his life if he wants to be in the Kingdom. He says that those we should avoid are some that claim to be Christian, but they only have and outward appearance of religion but have denied its power.
Paul tells Timothy to look at his example and to try to emulate him, including enduring when persecuted.
Evil people and charlatans (in the church) will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves.
The holy writings are able to give us wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. And we are reminded that every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. The person dedicated to God will then be capable and equipped for every good work.
If anyone is meant for captivity, into captivity he will go.
If anyone is to be killed by the sword, then by the sword he must be killed.
This requires steadfast endurance and faith from the saints. (Revelation 13:10)
Persecution requires that believers have steadfast endurance - "from the saints!" We must choose to persevere and endure whatever comes our way, even unto death.
