On Wednesday, August 2nd, we proudly hosted experimental electronic musician Matthew Byars’ (MD) project Attorneys General with experimental musician Brian Harnetty (CMH) as the featured player, and a duo between spoken word artist Christopher Appel (CMH) and experimental musician Chris Weldon (CMH) as the opening act. Performance took place at the Old First Presbyterian Church (1101 Bryden Rd. 43205). Video credits: Rachel Rew Wagner.

About the artists: Christopher B. Appel is an established presence and long term active participant in local undersound circles committed to social justice, collective evolution and integrated creativity. His extended body of work includes consistent improvised poetry presentations at the annual WhatYouWill Free Jazz Festival, host of the Olde Towne East Jazz Coffee House series, and a litany of martial arts and ecstatic dance practices. His first album “SolFlower” and book “The Vagabond Chronicles” are currently in production. As a professional social worker and child of the “You n I Verse” his creed remains: Love. Service. Balance. Behold.
Chris Weldon has spent the past 40 years choosing some sound sources, making some sounds, and building from there. He performs solo and with others, combining electronic and acoustic instruments. He creates sounds that are both pleasing and antagonistic. Lately, he has been playing with a 1/2 size cello, a miniature harp, a 28″ gong and a looper, some effects and random other instruments. He is a good cook, too.
