The NINTH video in the series includes how to create the final electric guitar finish by buffing the coat that was applied in video eight of the series. I also show what equipment you need, the buffing materials. The scratch remover I used was bought from guitarscreatchremover.com and that worked really well for my use as shown in this video.
I included some tips and tricks that worked for me in this instructional video.
During the buffing stages of the Warmoth Strat style guitar body and neck I used some materials often used for removing scratches from an electric guitar, so it's possible to repair a guitars finish from what is shown in this video as it applies to repairs too.
It can be difficult to end up with a professional finish especially if not applied correctly or too quickly. Slow work, without over working the top coat is the secret to success. If you want a really glasslike finish then taking these procedures even further with extra buffing of the finish can achieve that. For me, the finish I achieved is exactly what I wanted to achieve.
It's also possible to rub down the sharp edges on the guitar through to the wood underneath, and while this might seem problematic, if you want a worn look that can help achieve it. Indeed, you could actually create a relic guitar reasonably easily. I simulated in some places even the 'sinking' of the finish as found often on old guitars.
In Part 10 we will be fitting the Fender tuners and the Babicz tremolo unit and securing the neck. Part 11 will likely include the electrics for the guitar.
