From Pepita Mwanga, a powerful poem written for the Young Women and Democracy Summit, performed at our October 2025 open mic!
Pepita is an international spoken word poet, award winning voice actor, lawyer, and international development practitioner. Her written work has been featured in Poetic Africa and Writers Space Africa Magazines and has performed on platforms such as Young Women & Democracy Summit with the Scottish Parliament, UN Foundation SDG Curtain Raiser, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence with the Embassy of Sweden in Tanzania and is the second winner of the 2022 Burn the Mic, Juneteenth Poetry Slam.
The Loud Poets Open Mic takes place on the second and last Monday of each month at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh. It's FREE and unticketed, and open to poets of all ages, styles, and experience levels! Learn more: scottishstorytellingcentre.online.red61.co.uk/event/913:6346
