It started of as the simple idea of someone saying "As simple as ABC" and another person replying "What?" As with many of these snippets that pop into my head, it probably wasn't strong or funny enough to merit its own sketch, but I did it anyway, because that's the kind of YouTuber I am. The problem was, I couldn't figure out where to go after the revelation that character B deos not know what the alphabet is. This script languished, unfinished, for a couple of months before I came back to it (and to be candid, it probably should have just stayed unfinished, but here we are). As of right now, my almost 2-year-old son is obsessed with the ABCs. It occurred to me how strange it is to learn how to read. It trains your brain to instantly recognize not just letters but entire words and sentences at a glance. Once you are literate, you have no choice but to instantly read any words that you see. Maybe if a kid were aware of those implications, he would be less enthusiastic about learning his ABCs.
