In this video I explored an old abandoned hospital with Exploring With Josh and Exploring With Danny. We learned that this place was opened in 1921 as a hospital. On July 9, 1977, a new hospital was opened in the area, closing this facility until the buildings were later converted into an adult nursing home in 1979. In the first ten years of the 21st century, the new nursing home racked up 358 serious health and safety violations. On May 2, 2008, health inspectors found live and dead bedbugs and bedbug eggs in 40 beds. Several residents said they had bedbug bites and complained for months about the problem but nobody ever did anything to fix it. After these discoveries, the state ordered the temporary closure of the nursing home on June 1, and the local building inspector requested that all residents be evacuated within 24 hours. The inspector also noted that the building needed a roof replacement due to leaks that had caused severe structural degradation. Ceilings in six rooms were partially collapsing and some plaster walls were peeling and bubbling. Elsewhere, rooms and halls had visible water damage and steel ceiling support struts were rusted. The entire building smelled like mold. Since the evacuation and closure of the nursing home, the state has began preparations to permanently revoke the license and impose civil penalties on the adult home operator who owned the property.
