I recently asked people to suggest a word to inspire my next piece. I had dozens of entries, from the funny (cheese) to the ridiculous (pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis). I settled on a shortlist of four (Aotea, aquamarine, enchantment and penumbra) and let my beloved Patreon supporters vote on the winner, which was penumbra. Thanks to @hyrumkohler for suggesting that fine word! Here is the resulting short piece, part of my Notes from the Attic series.
