Penal Substitution is at the heart of the atonement. Without it, all theology crumbles.

In this video, we look at the necessity of Penal Substitution:
1. It is necessary for a complete theology
2. It factors in the consequence of sin
3. It elevates the character of God

God cannot set aside His justice or His mercy--He must have both all the time. Penal Substitution resolves this conflict in that He required payment, but we did not have to pay it--He did it Himself.
