Matthew Begue | Pecan Slab Side Table @Matt_Does_How_To | Uploaded 4 years ago | Updated May 13 2024
A storm knocked down a pecan tree limb in my parent's backyard. I took this opportunity to get a slab of it and build something! My dad ended up cutting me a slab of pecan and it seems the perfect size for a side table. Just so happened that my girlfriend wanted a side table for the front porch where we sometimes sit and drink coffee. I took this opportunity to clear out some old wood I had grabbed from the side of the road and cleaned up. I think my neighbor was tearing down a big shed and just dumped everything on the road. It was great! Old wood can be challenging to work with, but it feels really rewarding and comes with a one of a kind appeal if you do it right. I just like repurposing wood that would otherwise be burned. It just feels good and you save money. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video! Leave feedback if you have any! If you build anything similar to this, be sure to send me a picture!
