NBCUniversal’s new streaming service Peacock has signed an exclusive deal to stream the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Network.
Peacock will launch the WWE Network on March 18. The new service will have more than 17,000 hours of on-demand and live content 24 hours/day 7/days a week.
WWE Network, including all pay per views, will be available on Peacock Premium for $4.99 per month. Members will enjoy access to the entire WWE and Peacock catalog.
In other news, NBCUniversal, will drop the NBC Sports Network at the end of the year. NBC Sports Network carried NASCAR, the English Premier League, and the NHL, including the Stanley Cup playoffs. In terms of popularity, NBCSN, which has 80 million subscribers, is way behind ESPN, its biggest competitor.
Subscribers are fleeing satellite-TV services at record rates.
In 2018, 3 million people cancelled their traditional pay-TV providers with DirecTV and Dish accounting for two thirds of the number.
The average cable bill in the U.S is now $217/month, higher than all other utility bills combined.
