Together for over two years and a collective lifetime's worth of experience in many great projects and styles, Peach and the New Beats serve to you 'music to melt your heart.' That, they say, is their goal. The group created their first album of material, 'A curious case of happiness' in 2014. Their original music takes influence from soul, jazz, blues and many more eclectic acts. They continue to write and are in the process of creating their second release for 2016. Influences include Steely Dan, Rickie lee Jones, Portishead, Massive Attack, The Sundays, Neil Larson, Dr John, Joni Mitchell, Talk Talk and many more.
Hayley Alker, singer, songwriter and pianist. She also fronts French band CURL for the last two LP releases 'We are Complex' and 'Exit Real Life' both released through D-Monic Records in Paris. She has collaborated with Italian experimental composer and trumpeter, Giorgio Li Calzi and was published on his 2011 release, 'Organum' under Fonosintesi. She has also worked with band Carmen Rosa, artist Ismael Clarke and DJ / Producer Simon Heartfield along with her own project Helsinki.
Gary Shaw has many years of experience as a session guitarist, songwriter and recording engineer. He has played and toured with greats such as Eric Bibb, Jimmy Witherspoon and Roger Chapman, appeared on soundracks and co-written with Van Morrison, Sherman Robertson and many others. He has toured with these artists across Europe and the USA including live radio and TV performances.
Jon Callender - drummer, recording engineer and producer. He has been involved with over 20 commercially released records with Carmen Rosa, Helsinki, Shutka Champions, Curl and Vex (formerly Velcro). He toured for 15 years throughout Europe and the USA with Portsmouth based band, Cranes who regularly supported The Cure.
Paul Smith has been the guitarist with Cranes for 19 years and has toured throughout Europe and the USA who regularly support The Cure. He worked at Crystal Studios with Steve Hoff and is now a freelance Recording and Mix Engineer. He has released two self produced and recorded solo albums. In Peach and the New Beats, Paul plays bass.
Cliff Chapman is a keyboard player with vast experience and blends textures and parts beautifully. The last to join the band but has added so much to the sonic. Cliff has played recently with the Brass Knuckles Blues Band but has a massive list of credits to his name such as working with Bad Company and many more. His talents also lie in his production work, having worked at top south coast studios earlier in his musical career as mix engineer and producer.
