Have you ever just wanted to get away from it all? Life in a dwarven fortress can be a bit overwhelming, after all. Today we're heading to a tiny settlement off in a forgotten forest. A settlement far smaller than those we're used to. Today's fortress is a small, peaceful place home to only a pair of dwarves. Is this a feasible way to live? Or are these dwarves doomed to fail! Let's find out!
To make a "hermit fortress":
navigate to DF/data/init/d_init.txt
Find the POPULATION_CAP entry and change it to whatever you like. easy enough.
If you want to have a fort's population lower than the starting 7 dwarves, you'll have to expel some of them (v,p,e in game)
