Mr Lurchs Things | PC to Apple II DIY Joystick Adaptor @MrLurchsThings | Uploaded January 2021 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
I really enjoy little projects that I can build out of "stuff". So here is a nifty little design so you can use a more common 15-pn PC Joystick on an Apple II.
Parts:
Male DB9 connector and Shell
Female DB15 connector and Shell
2x a length of multi-core (at least 7) cable
2x 680ohm Resistors
2x 100nf Caps (I used Tantalums, but ceramics may work?)
A bit of perf board.
3D printed box: thingiverse.com/thing:4706134
Basic test program:
10 PRINT PDL(0)" "PDL(1):GOTO 10
Original Schematic found here: apple2faq.com/knowledgebase/convert-ch-mach-iii-joystick-apple-ii
