PBS Books Readers Club is back for season 3! We’re excited to share our conversation with author Charlotte McConaghy on her novel Once There Were Wolves, our pick to kick-off 2026!

The book follows Inti Flynn, a biologist who experiences the world intensely and believes restoring wolves to the Scottish Highlands will heal the land. Her empathy and conviction drive her to do whatever it takes to fulfill her mission – especially when man from the community turns up dead and suspicion falls squarely on the pack.

McConaghy will also discuss her latest bestseller, Wild Dark Shore.
