A presentation at Vintage Computer Festival East — October 8 2021

Pax Consola is a development environment for writing a game that runs on many vintage computers and video game consoles—without writing platform-specific code. In this class I’ll document a new language “Pax Forth”, and how it compiles to run on processors like the 6502, Z80, and 8086. This portable “Forth” environment targets well known consoles from the 70’s and 80’s, like the Commodore 64, Game Boy, MS-DOS, and more. There is also an online IDE at paxconsola.com where you can interactively follow along with the class, and build and play your own games from a web browser.
