Polish composer Paweł Łukaszewski (b. 1968) was born in Częstochowa, the son of composer Wojciech Łukaszewski. Educated at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (where his primary teacher was Marian Borkowski), he joined the institution’s composition faculty himself in 1996. In 2016, he was elected Vice-Rector. Active himself also as a choral conductor in Warsaw, Łukaszewski has focused his compositional activities primarily on sacred music, and his choral music in particular is known throughout the world. His choral music has been particularly championed and recorded in the United Kingdom, including two complete CDs on the Hyperon label. In 2011–12 he served as composer in residence for the Warsaw National Philharmonic.
