Paul Whiteman And His Orchestra play "Washboard Blues", featuring piano and vocals by its composer, Hoagy Carmichael. This is the unissued (on 78) take 4 ; the issued take 1 was released on Victor 35877.
This is also the first Whiteman recording to include Bix Beiderbecke, who is heard to good effect in the hot passage. It differs slightly from the issued take 1.
